Suicide Prevention Resources

Whether you have struggled with suicide yourself or have lost a loved one, AFSP wants you to know you are not alone. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is a national non-profit dedicated to research, advocacy, and support for those impacted by suicide. With local chapters in all 50 states, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention joins people across America. Find a local chapter here.

The Trevor Project is an excellent resource for LGBTQ, nonbinary youth, and allys. The Trevor Project encourages youth to “reach out to our trained counselors anytime you need support, if you are thinking about harming yourself, suicide, or feeling lonely we are here to listen.” Explore mental health and LGBTQ facts here. Reach out for immediate support via chat, call, or text here.

Individuals in crisis who need immediate support should call 911. Those who need support but are not in crisis can call a suicide prevention hotline for free and confidential support (typically) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Three options are provided below; the National Suicide Prevention Hotline, the Spanish Language Lifeline, and the Vetrans Crisis Helpline.
